The United States chose Montjoie Saint-Martin as the site for the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial because of its view of the Mont Saint-Michel and its involvement in the German 'counter-attack' after the Avranches breakthrough of 31 July 1944.
Guided tours every Wednesday in July, August and September, free and open to the general public. Meet at 2 pm at the entrance to the cemetery.
The cemetery is open free of charge every day from 9 am to 5 pm.
